Services

First and foremost, let’s celebrate you! Reaching out for support is a powerful step toward mental and emotional liberation, and any choice you make to care for your emotional well-being deserves to be honored.

¡Hola y Bienvenidxs! I’m Dra. Yanira Hernandez (she/her/ella)- a bilingual, bicultural, trauma-focused Licensed Mental Health Therapist and the CEO/Founder of Pa’lante Therapy, Inc. I provide culturally rooted, trauma-informed therapy for BIPOC individuals, with a deep commitment to serving Latine communities in California. I’m also an affirming ally to the LGBTQIA+ community and a supportive resource for undocumented/DACAmented/mixed-status folks navigating systems that were never built with our well-being in mind.

As the eldest daughter in a mixed-status family, raised in South Central Los Angeles, I bring both clinical expertise and lived experience into the therapy space. I understand what it’s like to carry responsibility early, translate worlds, and keep pushing forward, even when your nervous system is exhausted. Many of my clients are the “strong one,” the dependable one, the one others lean on… and they’re tired of surviving on autopilot.

My work is rooted in a culturally affirming, anti-oppressive, and trauma-focused approach, and I offer a caring, collaborative environment where you can feel seen, supported, and empowered. Together, we’ll explore what’s been shaped by survival (intergenerational wounds, early childhood experiences, cultural and family expectations, racialized stress, and cross-cultural conflict) so you can reconnect with your body, deepen self-trust, and build safety from the inside out.

I specialize in supporting clients navigating complex trauma (including racial/ancestral/intergenerational trauma, early childhood trauma, and trauma within immigrant communities), as well as anxiety, depression, burnout, perfectionism, and professional identity concerns. I also help First-Generation students and professionals unpack the “imposter phenomenon” through an intersectional lens, because what’s often labeled as “imposter syndrome” is frequently a valid response to systemic oppression, microaggressions, machismo, marianismo, and intergenerational survival patterns.

I provide services in both English and Spanish, and my experience spans a wide range of ages, from early childhood (birth to five), school-aged children, adolescents, transitional-aged youth, and adults. In addition to therapy, I offer clinical supervision (individual and group) for Associate Clinical Social Workers, with a supportive, culturally responsive approach to professional development and growth.

If you’re ready to release what you’ve been carrying, process what you’ve lived through, and reclaim the parts of you that have always been worthy, estoy aquí!

Con cariño y respeto,
Dra. Yanira Hernandez

*Please note: Therapy services are available to clients residing in the state of California. All services are provided via online/telehealth.

Approaches

My clinical work centers on helping clients heal from intergenerational trauma, early childhood trauma, and complex trauma especially within immigrant and Latine communities. I also deeply enjoy supporting First-Generation students and professionals navigating perfectionism, burnout, and the imposter phenomenon, because what’s often labeled as “imposter syndrome” is frequently a real and valid response to systemic oppression, cultural expectations, and survival-based conditioning, not a personal flaw.

I hold certifications and have received extensive training in a range of Evidence-Based Practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and Brainspotting. My clinical training also includes Structural Family Therapy (SFT), Family Systems Therapy, Seeking Safety, Crisis Oriented Recovery Services (CORS), and other trauma-informed interventions that support both emotional regulation and long-term healing.

Additionally, I am trained in K–12 school-based mental health interventions, including CBITS–Racial Trauma Model (CBITS-RTM), the UCLA FOCUS Family Resiliency Program in Schools, and Erika’s Lighthouse Mental Health Education Program for Students.

I integrate these modalities thoughtfully to create care that is personalized, culturally responsive, and grounded in what your mind and body actually need, helping you build insight, strengthen coping tools, reconnect with safety, and move forward with more clarity and confidence.
